Then, what is your name by CoolleKotten Then, what is your name by CoolleKotten
"Unafraid, she stood her ground with her hands on her hips, looking up at the giant tree creature before her. She squint her eyes, determined to get an answer to her question.
-Then, what is your name? Or have you forgotten that too?"

I finished this drawing a while ago, but was not sure if I should post it or not. Why? Because it is a part of a story that I am working on. :)
But since then, I have changed a bit in the story so this drawing does not really ruin much.

Here we have a troll, or as I like to call him - a forest troll. I have different kinds of trolls and this one in particular is one that works, more or less, as a forest ranger. He takes care of the forest and all the wild animals living there.
The girl is currently looking for her little brother that seems to have disappeared. The troll offered to help her in her search and now they are walking to a person that might be of more assistance in the search of her missing brother.

:)

Amazing work! I love the girl's pose. It's like "I don't care if you can crush me with your thumb, I'm not taking your foolishness"

Hah, that is kind of what I was going for! She is not the one to mess with, she's a tough girl, very determined when she had settled her mind on something.
(Although, the troll would never even think about crushing her, even if he can. He is a VERY peaceful creature. )

Hoping to do some more drawings of this pair, I have a story in the works. ;)

Yeah, I think it is good with a little folklore and stories when being a child, but also gown up. It enriches my life, at least. ;) Do you have any special lore or stories in Poland?
It is roots/ a bush coming out of his back! I like to think that he, as he gets older, "returns to life" by becoming a part of the forest. He has these little roots and bark popping up. So eventually (after hundred of years) he will be a part of the forest and maybe become another character/person or other thing.
Thank again, :)

I can see it working-older he gets, more tree like(or similiar )he becomes. Would make quite cool movie for children/and/or adults/or for both hehe.
Yeah we have some-about dragon who kidnapped a princess, some shoe maker or something similiar tricked the dragon to eat poisoned dead sheep-dragon eated it and then drinked a river and then he blew up-shoe maker get princes as prize...this is the only story i remember. But as an adult- i readed, and heard audiobook readed by great polish actor\Daniel Olbryski\ (he was the main bad dude in "Salt"),has great voice. So. i readed some adults like/satiric/grotesque/and really funny stories about ...well- i cant write names, because they are inapropriate, and i probably couldnt translate them into english-well one character,a knight was named !!Curseword allert!!###Cockthunder, or Thundercock### summing up the story-it is about some princes that cant be satisfied, and many knights try to well...satysfie her(prize is her hand and khningdom) funny names funny stories

I like to call drawings like this 'rich', because every time you look at it you discover something new you didn't see before. It's really nice!

I wanted the "look" of an older time. I got inspired by John Bauer's trolls and drawings, and wanted to create a kind of atmosphere for this scene. It was the first time I even tried it, so a couple of things could have been made different, I see that now. But it was a nice start and I am sure I will do more drawings like this in the future. :)

Then, you had great teachers!!

I've always liked trolls, since I was a little kid and heard them in stories.
There was actually a good reason why they even told children about trolls and other things, it was mostly to keep them alive. To not go out in the forest alone or when it is dark - they could get lost or worse - but kids dont think that way. They think "I can make it". But if you tell them there are spirits and trolls that will eat them whole if they go in the forest at night, then it will spark their fantasy and thus be afraid of going out - and in turn, keep them alive.
